Shabbat service is a celebration that is likened to a wedding ceremony. The Bride awaits the Bridegroom to show and take her away to the place that he has prepared for her. As in the parable of the ten virgins we are to prepare to meet the Bridegroom having the light of our souls filled with oil so we would be ready at His appearing. As at any wedding, dressing for the occasion is important, all are asked to dress appropriately and modestly. Please no jeans, t shirts, or shorts.
Erev Shabbat service starts at 7:30 pm and will last for about one hour. On the first Firday evening service of the month we start with a kosher meal at 6:30 pm, provided by the synagogue. Afterwards we enjoy a "Blessing of Thanks."
