I do not ask for a lighter burden,

but for broader shoulders!

                                                                                 Jewish Proverb

We Are A Torah Covenant Community!

At B'nai Yeshurun we are building a Torah Covenant Community. When our Master said "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy and My burden is light. -Matthew 11:29,30,  he was speaking to those that labor and are heavy laden (v.28). In ancient Jewish writings it is clear that the work "yoke" was a synonym for learning Torah. Those that labor and are heavy laden are those that are under the the weight of trying to please G-d by obeying all the teachings of Torah as well as the ones from the current religious leaders and the Oral Law.

The Jewish people are covenant people and are commanded to obey Torah in all that it says. Some of the laws of Torah can be obeyed today and some cannot, for different reasons. But the Master said "If you love Me, obey My commandments" (John 14:15), this is our motivation. When Yeshua (Jesus) was here, He never said that Torah was done away with. He actually said the opposite in Matthew 5:17-18. At B'nai Yeshurun, we call Yeshua, Lord, through faith, so the labor and the heavy burden has been lifted. We can live the abundant life of Torah observance and have no condemnation, but pass from death to life. (John 5:24) In our services we teach the teaching of Moses every Sabbath (Acts 15:21) and seek to see Messiah in all that is written.

God Fearing Gentile believers are part of our community and seek to get to know their Messiah better. God Fearers were not under the same covenants as the Jewish people but are brought near by the blood of Messiah and are grafted into the "Commonweath of Israel"  through faith, and they must make decisions for their life as they look at the scriptures through Jewish understanding and come in their fullness. As we work through the Torah over the course of a year, many revelations take place.

"Come get to know your Messiah better"

...proclaiming the Kingdom of G-d, and teaching those things concerning Messiah Yeshua, with all freedom and without hindrance. Acts 28:31  MKJV
